Economic Development Manager
It is an exciting time for Economic Development in the Town of Fort Macleod with the focus on building a viable community.
The Town of Fort Macleod is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Economic Development Manager. This opportunity will build economic growth and partnerships within the Town of Fort Macleod. The position reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer and is responsible to establish economic growth which includes land sales, various marketing initiatives and supporting economic development projects. Ensuring that the initiatives have a positive impact on the Town. Pursuing projects, available grants and opportunities that will provide long term economic sustainability by identifying and promoting new business opportunities while continue to work with existing businesses. Working with various stakeholders to design, develop and implement various strategic and economic initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate will possess:
- Preference will be given with those possessing a Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing or a field related to Economic Development
- Alberta Class 5 Drivers License
- Certified Economic Developer (Ec. D) designation would be an asset
- Experience in land sales and development required
- Experience in grant writing
- Strong computer literacy
- Organizational and project management experience
- Knowledge of formal and informal political processes as well as knowledge in existing government sponsored economic development initiatives and programs
- Understanding of all aspects of business development from financing, market research to real estate and building requirements.
- Strong written and oral communication skills including experience in public speaking
