Summer Works Program – Office/ Marketing Assistant
SNAP East Kootenay is a FREE monthly print publication specializing in providing a ‘non-political’, friendly and entertaining photographic view of living in the community with coverage including: community business functions and openings, charitable events, sporting events, festivals, concerts, people on the street, parades and carnivals, and general daily life in the Community.
Position Function:
The position will provide assistance and support to the Publisher/ Sales manager to alleviate extensive administrative and marketing tasks required to maintain this monthly community focused newspaper. This assistance will be key with integral contributions toward the expansion and growth of SNAP to better connect the Community through event coverage and marketing partnership expansion.
Position Responsibilities
-provide administrative assistance
-input data, maintain information management system, tag events, update calendar, complete records for accounts paid, assist with the expansion of marketing partnerships and planning
-attend and cover community events, download photos into the SNAP system and tag them, write/ add to
copy as per event covered
- make postings to Face Book
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of Secondary School with preference for a business/marketing student
- Extensive computer knowledge and at least some experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Face Book
- Ability to write clearly and concisely
- Photographic experience and interest
- Interest in the community and 'good news' events
- Be positive, able to work without supervision, take initiative
- Possess strong communication, organizational and time management skills
- Obtain a Criminal Record Check from the RCMP as per SNAP Franchise requirements
** MUST qualify under the Summer Works Program and be prepared to work within the Columbia Basin Trust (CBT) 2013 Summer Works Program requirements.

Flexible hours; proposed 30 hours / week; $15.00 /hour (as per Summer Works Program contract)
